MIDCO customer service is the reason our customers return and our customer service team is the heart of MIDCO Global. Our employee Melissa Hermoso has been with MIDCO Global customer service since 2015. She started working part-time while finishing her bachelor’s degree in Biology and transitioned to full time in May of 2017.
Melissa works with our customers to field questions, make product recommendations, and build orders; she is in direct contact with many of our vendors to oversee sourcing and manage inventory; and she leads a large portion of new product development at MIDCO Global.
When you place an order for seed packets, harvest mesh bags, pollination bags, or garden stakes, Melissa has touched your order whether she has taken it herself or not. As technologies and customer preferences have evolved within the market, Melissa has improved and expanded MIDCO Global’s core product catalog to incorporate the insights she gathers from customer feedback every single day.
Pioneering products to advance research in fields and labs provides Melissa with a sense of purpose and impact. The customer and vendor relationships she’s built facilitate efficiencies on both sides of her role. She is able to both anticipate customer needs and steer product development, while carefully planning, experimenting, and resourcing with vendors. The products MIDCO customers are using in the field are affecting the agricultural industry all over the globe.
MIDCO customers want products and equipment that function as promised, but they also want timely delivery, convenient ordering, cost savings, responsive communication, and flexibility. Melissa gives our customers so much more than a product. Her oversight and recommendation have helped customers consolidate suppliers, customize products, and improve processes to positively affect our customer’s bottom line.
Melissa’s favorite customer interactions are the ones that begin as a supply order restock and then turn into a half hour discussion on additional product use cases and new product discovery. The MIDCO catalog is so much larger than it appears because of the endless customizations and product sourcing MIDCO is able to provide.
For the year ahead Melissa’s biggest recommendation is to plan your ordering 3-6 months before you need an order fulfilled. Times are much different than three years ago and Melissa has visibility over raw materials, production, and shipping. MIDCO is working hard to make sure the highest quality supplies are delivered as quickly as possible and the sooner MIDCO Global can be included in internal customer side planning, the better we can meet your deadlines.
Melissa likes our customers to know that we are able to reserve their orders in our system ahead of time and that submitting orders early helps establish fulfillment priority. MIDCO Global does not bill customers until orders ship so there is no extra pressure on cash flow. Having a conversation with MIDCO sooner is always better and the perfect time to go over special shipping and billing instructions. MIDCO ships orders “best-way” to balance shipping cost and service speed, but we are happy to accommodate specific customer requests.
For the last two years Melissa has been hard at work on developing new and improved pollination tassel bags. Tassel bags are expected to launch this spring and are an excellent tool for pollen containment and work with crops like corn.
Melissa was part of the team to develop the MIDCO CannaLock pollination bag for cannabis and hemp. She is excited to explore more packaging and breeding supplies for the growing cannabis and hemp industry. For sourcing specific cannabis and hemp growing supplies, please contact us.
Outside of MIDCO, Melissa has been invested in an expansive home renovation for the better part of the last 10 years. Her project is nearing completion and she looks forward to being able to enjoy her home and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen. Melissa’s travel plans for 2023 include trips to the West Coast and Middle East to visit with family, friends, and explore new sites.
