Customer service first is how Mathew Haneberry leads international business at MIDCO Global.
Mathew is MIDCO Global’s internal liaison for all international customers and business outside the United States. International business accounts for MIDCO’s fastest growing territory and a large part of that is due to Mathew’s exceptional ability to deliver reliable, cost-efficient results to agricultural businesses abroad.
Mathew has been with MIDCO Global for close to six years and has a background in logistics and international business with specific attention to exports. Mathew views his primary objective as fulfilling a customer’s seasonal product needs in a timely manner with competitive, cost-saving air/ocean freight rates. He is knowledgeable of market trends and has built relationships across his career to ensure goods shipped on his watch are secure, compliant with all international reporting standards, and delivered on time, within budget.
Customers appreciate the support Mathew provides from product recommendation, to order creation, shipping, and finally delivery. They trust in Mathew’s experience and MIDCO’s commitment to quality agricultural products. MIDCO Global currently does business in over 50 countries across multiple continents– Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe), Asia (Cambodia, India, Japan, Philippines, South Korea), Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden) North America (Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, etc.), South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru, Uruguay) and Australia and New Zealand. Vast terrains, varied growing season schedules, evolving research, and countless crop concentrations keep Mathew’s work exciting and constantly changing. Mathew enjoys working with first-time MIDCO customers and educating them on the many agricultural solutions MIDCO is able to provide. Oftentimes a customer may only shop with MIDCO for a key item like seed packet envelopes or pollination bags. The full MIDCO product range includes additional packaging across seed containment and seed storage; planting, pollinating, and harvest tools; research equipment, and more. Mathew finds it rewarding to offer customers a one-stop-shop experience to make resource planning and ordering much easier for customers. Less time ordering supplies means more attention can be given to research and crop breeding efforts.
MIDCO Global’s product assortment is constantly expanding and if our catalog does not currently include a product your business needs, our vast network of vendors and manufacturers usually means we can source, customize, and/or add to our catalog.
One project worth noting is a customization Mathew added to MIDCO Global’s standard monofilament mesh bag to improve functionality and in-field use. Mathew had mesh bags redesigned to include belt loops and a new pocket. Belt loops work with MIDCO Global’s harvest belt for hand-free use during harvest season. The front pouch was added to fit pot stakes with RFID. RFID allows researchers to track and recall important information from the field. The improved monofilament mesh bag has increased efficiency for our customer and is an example of how a quality product can make a difference in the field.
Quality is important and a lot of Mathew’s success has been to educate customers on the difference MIDCO products bring to agricultural research and production. Particularly in Europe, where the market is already highly developed, Mathew has noticed an increase in seed packet orders. Customers prefer the customizations MIDCO can provide and the premium materials we use. Our seed packet paper is durable and available in multiple weights. The glue our seed envelopes are sealed with is durable and water resistant.
Mathew also helped develop our CannaLock pollination bag for cannabis and hemp breeders. This reusable solution allows those working with cannabis and hemp to carefully control pollen exposure and containment through breeding. Cannabis and hemp breeders working with traditional paper and plastic containment are not able to maintain ideal growth environments. This can lead to unnecessary stress on plants, lower yield, and inadequate breeding environments with cross-contamination. The CannaLock pollination bag is a reusable solution that comes in multiple sizes. Our core CannaLock bag is made with a 10 micron mesh weave. For additional mesh configurations please contact us.
For the 2023 growing season Mathew recommends ordering ahead of schedule. Pandemic congestion, heightened manufacturing lead times, and shipping delays are still working their way through the macro environment. Ordering ahead of schedule allows for better savings and more shipping lanes.
This year Mathew will be visiting with Canadian customers in April, attending the International Soybean Conference in Vienna, Austria in June, and then meeting with EU customers in Germany, Italy, Hungary, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. To schedule a meeting with Mathew please send a request here.
Outside of work Mathew stays active and spends time running, indoor climbing, camping, and traveling. He is a skilled craftsman and also enjoys DIY projects at home.
